Wardrobe Wednesday

I am still a little stunned. At 46 years old, I knew that my metabolism had slowed and it would be close to impossible to lose weight easily, if at all. I accepted that and was totally okay with my size 10 (creeping up on size 12) pants.

I started eating Primal/Paleo not all that long ago. Was it January? I started living this lifestyle to be healthier. I do feel healthier. In fact, I feel great! And without even trying, the weight started coming off. I couldn't believe it.

My jeans have been getting bigger . . . and bigger. It was becoming very obvious that my jeans just didn't fit. I finally gave in and conceded to buying one pair of jeans. I hate to shop. I headed over to Kohl's and grabbed a pile of size 8 jeans. I tried on every pair and they fit . . . sort of. They were a little loose, and I knew that by the end of the day they would "give", as jeans do, and likely be too loose.

Heading back out to the piles of jeans I searched for a size 6 short. I am only 5' 3" after all.

There was one pair.

One.

I took them back to the fitting room.

I pulled them up.

I buttoned them.

I zipped them.

And they fit.

They actually fit!

Thank you, Freckles, for taking this photo for me. : )

Now head on over to Aliceson's, Feet Off the Table, to see what all the cool kids are wearing.

  4. You look great! :) Must feel terrific too.

I have never bought a single pair of jeans that fit. They are not made for tall people ('tall' equals tacking on 3" at the ankle because tall people obviously only have long ankles, not longer bodies, longer thighs...). So I don't buy clothing. I am calling my wardrobe "minimalist". ;)

  6. I was never ever in my whole life a size 6. Not even before I had kids.

So what is this miracle stuff you are eating for your health? LOL

I have been working out like crazy and that just is not giving me the results I am looking for.

You look fantastic! I love the one pair of jeans you found too, they are cute.

  7. Look at you, you hot momma! I was never a size 6 either...ever. (Hugs Crystal!) The smallest I ever was an 8 and that's when I was a scrawny teen. Of course, I'm almost 5'9" so my current size 14 doesn't look the same as it would on someone shorter. I wish I could get more serious about Paleo. :P

  8. Denise, I live in my jeans. I guess I shouldn't complain about being short. It's easier to accommodate. My best friend, Freckles is 5' 11" (or is it 5' 11.5"?) and she has found that Eddie Bauer jeans fit her. Have you ever tried there?

Joe! Hey, thanks for stopping by my blog! My husband is trying Paleo and told me it's the hardest thing he's ever done. Paleo has been fairly easy for me, but I also have an awesome support system. I think that helps A LOT. Good luck to you with you weight loss. Or as those in the Paleo world say, "leaning out". It sounds so much better to me. Rock on, dude!

Crystal, working out will never give you the results you are looking for. Sad, but true. And anyone who tells you differently doesn't know what they are talking about. Studies have shown it. My best friend, Freckles, has shown it. She worked her butt off for years, running, lifting, etc. with minimal results. She started eating Paleo and is not working out hard like she used to and she is leaning out. In fact, she is even thinner than I am. Changing the way that you eat is key. Paleo works. Check out Freckles blog. She has started posting about this lifestyle.

And I am happy to help you out in any way I can. If you want more information, or just to talk about it, email me. shadylady @ maintcc . com (((hugs)))

Sheri, I wish you were here. Having support is so helpful. Beyond that, get everything out of your house that isn't Paleo. Read some books or some Paleo/Primal blogs. Call me. Email me. I am happy to do anything to help you. (((hugs)))

  11. Get rid of everything that isn't Paleo??? That seems so daunting. I understand where you're coming from but I'm at the rationalization stage.

Can I really bake with almond and coconut flour? Will I really be satisfied with honey instead of sugar?

And the idea of low-carb flu scares the heck out of me.

  12. Thanks, Jessica! I loved the boots so much when I found them, I bought another pair in brown. I kind of had to . . . it was buy one, get one half off. :-)

Sheri, I know it sounds hard, but the best way not to eat the things you want to avoid is to not have them in the house. I didn't get carb flu, so I can't really speak to that. Freckles said that while it certainly wasn't fun, it was worth two short weeks of feeling not so great in order to feel fantastic after.

And yes, you can bake with almond and coconut flour and it's good. And yes, honey will satisfy you. Really good. I told Freckles that she needs to post recipes on her blog. She has a banana nut muffin recipe that is yummy and a brownie recipe that is un-flippin-believable. OH. MY. GOSH. Those brownies are awesome. Of course baked goods should be a treat, not something you eat on a daily basis. LK baked me almond flour scones for Mother's Day. I ate scones for 5 days and ended up gaining a pound. Of course, I stopped having a daily scone and lost the pound quickly.

So...how does that all sound, Sheri?
