I'm back . . . for this week, anyway. Next week, we go camping with our
Village Home community --
yurt camping. I'm just not a tent kind of a gal. This is only Princess and my second time camping. Last time was for 3 days. We're going for a whole week. I'm a little nervous. Excited, but nervous. This time I am trying to bring all the supplies we need. I have a list. A very lohohohohohong list. I'm trying not to stress.

Speaking of Village Home, today is priority registration for fall term. Princess and I went through the available classes and she chose the classes that she found most interesting. This year was really tough, because there were quite a few classes that conflicted. Princess had some tough decisions to make. She really did choose all of her classes. The only limitation we talked about was choosing classes that started noon or later. Princess is a bit of a night owl and getting up early is challenging. She was fine with keeping her choices to later classes. Whew!
Here is what she chose:
Latin I (we ended up dropping this last year, because it started too early)
Detective Agency
Knights, Castles & Dragons
Foundations in Computer Programming
Bananagrams, Cribbage & Cards
Drama for Kids
Artist Trading Cards
Art Savvy Sewing
Here are my classes:
Strengthening & Toning
Artist Trading Cards (facilitating)
Unschooling Rocks! Roundtable (facilitating)
Paleo Talk
I think it's going to be a fun and busy year for both of us!
Sounds like plan! A fun plan at that!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you both have some great classes to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteWow - you have that many options? In one place? Organized? With a website? And registration online? (you get that Madison is all unorganized mish mosh here and there not really anything cool just for secretive fearful people? ha!). WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW. And I have always LOVED that Oregon has YURTS to camp in. That is so cool.
ReplyDeleteYay, you're back! What an exciting adventure.
ReplyDeleteIt's understandable that as beginners you'd be a little nervous, but you're going to have so much fun. In the woods there's just much more to discover and enjoy while a whole lot less to clean. ;)
And believe me, the list will get shorter the more times you go camping. Before long you'll have packing for a campout down to an art.
Those are some awesome sounding classes. My favourite has to be the Bananagrams, Cribbage and Cards one. Cards (and dice too) are awesome ways to learn and practice math skills. :P
Wow, I LOVE the classes you guys can choose from at Village home:) Certainly not the boring classes that normally come to mind! I hope you enjoy your camping trip, tent/yurt, ah its still camping and its still gonna be heaps of fun:)
ReplyDeleteSheila, it does sound like fun . . . I just hope it lives up to my expectations. (yeah, I am still nervous. Don't tell anyone.)
ReplyDeleteSecret Mom, we always get so excited about our classes. We love Village Home!
Denise, yes, Village rocks. It is truly an amazing place and we are so very fortunate to have it. Yurts rock, too . . . next to campers. One day we'll have a camper . . . one day.
Sheri, we are excited about all of our classes. I wish I could join Princess for the games class, but I will be in Strengthening & Toning at the same time. Oh well! As for the camping . . . I don't see the list getting shorter until we have our camper and things will just be in there ready and waiting for us. Packing food for a week is daunting whiteout a fridge. How do I bring enough fresh veggies and meats? No worries . . . we've got a plan!
Jessica, the class selection is incredible and I swear, it gets better every year. Camping, well there will be fun parts. I'm sure it will be great, but have I mentioned that I'm a bit nervous? ; P
