Monday Garden Club

Thanks again to our Monday Garden Club host, Aliceson at Feet Off the Table. She has the most amazing garden! Head on over and check it out!

In honor of the Fourth of July celebration, I've got a colorful garden update. We finally put some flowers in the front garden bed! Princess and I picked the flowers out at our local garden center. I'm sure you'll all be shocked to find that we chose lots of PINK.  We (and by we, I mean the Lizard King) had to move/remove a bunch of river rock and add dirt in order to plant. The builder's landscaper had put a good 4-6 inches of river rock in the beds. LK made fast work of changing the bed over so that Princess and I (with the help of my sister, the Duchess) were able to beautify our front yard.

I love having color and flowers! Next year, I'd like to have a flower garden in the back for cutting. I love having fresh flowers in the house!

I also started an indoor herb garden. I want to have herbs right there in the kitchen, ready for cutting. I chose the herbs that I will likely use the most -- Italian parsley, cilantro, basil and . . .

 . . . mint.

I'm ready to cook now!

Head on over to Aliceson's to check out what's happening in gardens everywhere!

Happy 4th of July, everyone!

  3. If you ever have rocks that you want to get rid of be sure to let me know. Did you know that the flowers of pansies and impatiens are edible? We've been adding them to our salads for a touch of color.

  4. Gina, I will certainly let you know about the rocks. I didn't know they were edible! How fun and colorful to add them to salads. Thanks for the tip!

  5. I am going to do a little herb garden in a planter right outside my dinning room slider on the porch. I do not have room inside and the outside spot is so nice to put the herbs and plants I use most. I may even plant a little lettuce there. It grows well all year long.

  6. Lettuce all year long, Crystal? That rocks! We are planning to try a winter garden here. I would love to have lettuce year round. Enjoy your herb garden, too! :)
