Nature Connections: May 2011

It seems that Spring isn't certain that it wants to come to Portland. We have been certain to spend time outside on the few nice days that we did have. Most of the outside time has been in the yard. LK and I worked on the garden, while Princess played and explored.

I know it's not much. Hopefully next month will be much more exciting. Fingers crossed! Spring/Summer may actually arrive one day.

Now head on over to our Nature Connections sponsor, Sherry, to check out others who else got out and about.

  1. It's been very wet here too...not a lot of sunshine to go around. It's getting better though. Great pics of Princess exploring her backyard. :D

  2. It's becoming too hot where we live to spend much time outside now, so my nature photos are about to become few and far between until late September.

    Your daughter is adorable!

  3. Hoping your weather improves soon, too, Sheri!!

beckyboop, thanks for stopping by my blog! I would be staying in with as hot as it gets in Vegas, too! What about night time? Is it cooler to go out then?

And thanks, we think she's adorable, too. :)

  5. Love the photo gallery of backyard exploring princess style. I saw on your goals page that you wanted to learn to use your camera better. It looks like you're accomplishing this. Is the sewing going as well?

We have an only child also. One wonderful boy to explore this life with. Thanks for sharing the Princess pics. Inspires me to know that all he needs at times is to just get out in the backyard in the peace and quiet and explore.

  6. Hi Kay and thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm working on the photography thing a lot, doing lots of reading and experimenting. The sewing isn't happening as much lately. I really do need to get my sewing machine set up and get on that again. Hopefully soon!

Sometimes having an only can be a challenge, but we try to have lots of playdates and sometimes Princess does like to get out on her own and explore. I'm grateful that we have such a fun backyard that entertains her so well!

  7. The sewing thing is my ever-present goal that gets put aside too. I keep wanting to be this real handicraft kind of person. (My mother and sister are both seamstresses and artists.) However, I think I may be just about to give up on that snobbery and head into the technology art world. My son is more drawn (ha!)to use the Paint program on my computer than to create with pen and paper. And I'm wanting to get a most excellent camera and software to do some digital scrapbooking and make my blog more appealing. I have a couple of friends that are great handicrafters (I mean really excellent) and they have begun doing digital scrapbooking and doing some beautiful work. One thing they like is that it has removed a lot of the clutter of the materials in their house. So if they can do it, I'm thinking I can too.

Thanks for listening and letting me take up so much space here :)

  8. I think that becoming digitally crafty is a fabulous idea! I have wanted to learn more about digital scrapbooking...at least I keep saying that I do. But then I look at all the photos of Princess' life and feel overwhelmed at the task. I hope you find your crafty passion! :-)

  9. Looks like a really fun time! Great pictures! We live up north from you, and I am glad there was finally some sun this month! :) Next week is supposed to be really nice (at least it was the last time I looked at the weather report!). I hope it is! :D
