Monday Garden Club Begins!

That's right ladies and gentlemen! It's time for our first installment of Monday Garden Club, sponsored by Aliceson over at Feet Off the Table.

I have to say, I really missed having a garden last year and I'm super excited about having a garden this year. The Lizard King has accomplished a lot the last two weekends, building the most awesome garden beds ever.

We have a lot more yard space now than we did the last time we built garden beds . . . and a lot more sunlight, too. I cannot wait to see the amazing veggies we produce.

The original plan was to do half the beds this year and finish the rest next year, but LK just went for it.Of course, the right tools help. After much deliberation, we settled on cedar for the beds.

They are almost done. All that is left is is to build the fence around the beds to keep the Royal Dog out. The beds, dirt and all, should (hopefully) be done by the end of next weekend . . . just in time for Monday Garden Club. LK hopes to have a young helper with the dirt and stones. At age 50, that kind of work isn't getting any easier.

He was going to finish the beds on Sunday, but decided to start on the deck instead.  I swear, the man is a machine.

You tell me . . . do you think this man is level headed?

I cannot wait to post the photos of the finished garden beds. :-D

  2. I can't wait until it's all done! LK just warned me that there may be a slight delay. He needs to put the sprinklers into the beds before the dirt goes in. Either way, I'll post the progress next Monday.

  3. Wow! It all looks great and can I say that I love your yard. The big boulders and the hill and that tiered fence, wow!!! I'm so happy you'll be gardening this year. Nice work, LK!

  4. Thanks, Aliceson! I think we totally lucked out with our yard. We got this lot because LK wanted a 3-car garage and it was the only lot that would fit it with the house we wanted. All the other lots are postage stamp size, with tiny yards. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's all done. He designs these things in his head and I'm such a visual person. :)

  6. Thanks RasJane! Ya know, I wish I could take even a little credit, but it's all LK's. The plan, the work, all of it. I just stand around snapping photos. ;-P

  8. I'm super excited, too, Denise! I just hope that the growing season is better than last year. I was kind of glad we didn't do a garden last year. Nobody produced much. Here's to a better growing year!!

  11. I can't wait to post more pictures, Jessica. LK has now decided to take Thursday off from his job to work on the garden beds more. The weather is supposed to be clear that day. We've had a lot of rain...

We do love our space, Cate. :-) Every time you post photos and write about the work your hubby does around your house, I think the same thing - our men have a lot in common. I bet they'd hit it off well!

  13. Thanks, Sherry! It is a process, isn't it? I'm actually looking forward to the finish so I can see what it's going to look like! It's all in LK's head, including the part to keep the dog out. He thinks of everything.
