Indoor Girl, Outdoors

Inspired by Sherry at Living and Learning, Princess and I are participating in Nature Connections. If you'd like to learn more about it click that little button to the left.

Rooster X (now there's a name we haven't seen in a while)  and his kids invited us along on an adventure to the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge last week. Okay, I know I said I was going to do this...but do I really have to? Really? Fine.

Princess was super excited and wanted to turn our adventure into a scavenger hunt. She and I worked on a list of things to find.

Ducks
Trees
Bunnies
3 different color leaves/needles
Mushrooms
Moss
Rocks (1 huge, 1 tiny)
Birds
Body of water (pond, stream, etc.)
Fairies
People
Puddles
Flowers
Berries
Something surprising

I ended up taking nearly 300 photos, less after deletes. Here are just a few...

We found everything except...mushrooms, bunnies and a huge rock. You thought I was going to say fairies didn't you? Oh ye of little faith! We found a fairy house, a fairy village AND a fairy castle...and Princess saw a fairy wearing a white dress. So there.

  4. She really was, Sherry, and so was I! I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm looking forward to more outdoor adventures. Wait! Did I just say that?!?!

  6. I drive by that place every week. I really need to take my kids there. I'm pretty sure that I happen to have a teachers guide for that refuge if you ever want to borrow it. It's great if your child wants to know the names of the flora and fauna those fairies are living in. I miss the fairy-believing days so I am living vicariously through you and Princess in this area. :D

  7. :) Sheila...who knew?!?!

Oh Gina, you soooo have to go! If Princess expresses interest in the names of plant life, I would love to borrow that book. At the moment it's just good for us to get out there. If you ever want to join us for a fairy walk, let me know!!
