You all know we don't "do" math. You have heard me say, math happens, right? Video games are a pretty big part of our lives. I really do see value and learning in everything. Princess showed me her score on an iPhone game the other day . . . and read it to me.

Yup. That was the number.

  2. Wonderful! Hey, however it happens. As long as it's right. Sounds so much more calmer than drilling those silly tables over and over again into those little brains.

  4. Aww, thanks Freckles!! :-)

Sheila, you are such a closet unschooler.

Aliceson, I had no idea that scores went that high! Or that Princess could read the number. ;-P

  5. Good for her! Number placement can be a difficult concept for many to get...I often still have to count backwards (ones, tens, hundreds etc) to be able to read large numbers. Yes, I'm a total mathphobe. :D

  6. As long as there are commas, she's good to go. Without them, well, I'd have to put them in. I love that Princess is not a mathphobe. She very well could have been because reading comes easy to her whereas math not as much. Since we unschool, I don't push it at all. We are so laid back about math, it really does just happen. :-)

  7. I really do think that we develop blocks when forced to try and understand concepts we're not ready for. Learning is individual and ultimately guided by our interests and desires.

Oh, how I love unschooling! :D
