Project 2011 -- Week ??

I've lost track of which week we're in! Oops!

As always, thank you to our lovely sponsor, Cate, over at Moments of Whimsey.

I haven't posted a Project 2011 in a few weeks. If you'd like to check out our goals for the year, click the tab up above. And now, on to the update!

Princess is really excited about her upcoming sewing class. We've begun gathering supplies. I'll have to post photos next week of all the lovely treasures.

The Lizard King has been way too busy working to even think about the ever elusive pistons. I swear, the man is a machine!

As for me, I'm beginning to feel like I need some new goals. I wanted to learn to use my camera and I have. I shoot in manual mode 99% of the time. And I NEVER use "auto". EVER. I wanted to learn how to sew and begin to sew things. I have. Now, I'm not saying that I don't have A LOT more to learn in these areas, because I do. TONS! But I have accomplished those goals and while I look forward to learning more, it's just something that will continue to happen forever. Right?

Today, I started a quick and easy sewing project . . . or so I thought. Being quite the "green" gal, I am always looking for ways to be greener. For a while, I've used old t-shirts on my Swiffer. They work, uhm, okay . . . I guess. I found some ideas online for sewing fleece covers for the Swiffer and thought it was a great idea!

I bought a half yard of fleece. Of course it's pink! What other color would I choose?!

I measured and cut. Then I put it on the sewing machine to sew.

And I broke my darn needle! What the heck?!

And the bobbin holder thingy popped out and won't go back in.

So I sewed the rest by hand and to put it simply, it didn't quite work out the way I'd intended. Sometimes you just need to know when to throw in the towel. So I measured and cut again.

And stuffed the fabric into the Swiffer the way you would with the disposable cloths.

Brilliant! Simple! And it worked beautifully!!!

Now for a new goal. We have been renters for a very long time. We were also renters who moved . . . a lot. We have not really settled into a house and made it a home in a very long time. It's been over a year since we bought our home. Yes, we have been living here for a year and I have not decorated. We have not hung pictures or art or anything. It's like we're ready and waiting to move again. But we're not moving. So, my new goal is to turn this house into a home. I've already started, but I think I'll wait until next week to show you.

Don't you just love a teaser? ; )
